Arlie Bess (Shirley) Clark, age 91 of Boerne, Texas, went to be With the Lord on May 7, 2017. Born in Charleston, Arkansas on August 16, 1925, she was the daughter of Nelson Kelvy Shirley and Nola Brooks Shirley.

Arlie started cutting hair and perms at the age of ten for friends, neighbors, and relatives. She put herself through Beauty School in Fort Smith, Arkansas and started her own Beauty business in downtown Charleston. Arlie, her husband, Roscoe and two children moved to California. Later, the family moved to Texas. Arlie became very successful as a beautician.

Arlie was also a Mary Kay consultant and real estate broker. She retired in 2005 after 70 years of beauty work. Arlie loved cooking, travel, visiting relatives, grandkids and great grandkids, doing for others, and meeting with Kendall County Republican Women.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe F. Clark, her father, Nelson Kelvy Shirley, her mother, Nola Brooks Shirley, her sister, Estelle Strickland Hartsfield, and her nephew, Steven B. Tatum. She is survived by her daughter Paula Lex, her son Robert Clark, her sister Millie Cress, nephews David and Derrell Thompson, nieces Carolyn and Marilyn Thompson, grandchildren and great grandchildren, cousins Hub Brooks and Paula Resch.

Funeral services were held in Boerne, Texas. Burial will be Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 2:00 pm, in Peter Pender, Arkansas, at Lowes Creek Cemetery.
