The Fort Smith Museum of History will host a book signing and program for Evin Demirel, author of "African-American Athletes in Arkansas: Muhammad Ali's Tour, Black Razorbacks and Other Forgotten Stories," beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday at the museum, 320 Rogers Ave. The program will follow the signing at 6 p.m. Demirel's one-of-a-kind anthology includes information on Fayetteville's forgotten "Black Razorbacks" of the 1930s, Ali's weeklong tour through Arkansas in 1969 and many articles from various award-winning publications. State Rep. George McGill also will be on hand to share stories of his father Louis "Teddy" McGill, who also is featured in Demirel's book. Louis McGill "was considered one of the area's best left-handed pitchers."
