National Family Caregiver Support Program


The (Greenwood Senior Center) will have a caregiver support meeting on November 9 10:30 a.m.). If you are a caregiver of an adult 60 years and older please come join us. This information could be extremely helpful to you. The topic will be (Elder Law) presented by ( Jamison Bonds). Charleston Open Town


Thursday, November 10th. Merchants will have specials and will stay open late- until 8pm. We are in the process of compiling a list of merchants/restaurants that will be participating in the festivities. Arkansas River Holiday Market


This event will be held Nov. 12-13 at Kay Rodgers Park Expo Center in Fort Smith at 4400 Midland Ave. More than 60 vendors will display and sell their items. We have something for everyone! We will feature exciting and unique gift buying opportunities to start your holiday season and when you shop the market, you are shopping local. We have a variety of item such as woodworking, home décor, homemade candy, holiday décor, jewelry, boutique clothing, gifts, children’s clothing, wooden toys, paintings, and more. Hours for the market are Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9am to 6pm, and Sunday, Nov. 13 from 10am to 4pm. We encouraged shoppers to attend the market where all proceeds support scholarships for young ladies in the area . Donna Ellenwood 5K Race

Cecil UMC Hosts a Thanksgiving Dinner


A thanksgiving dinner will be held at the Cecil United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 13th at noon. The menu will consist of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, dessert, and a drink. Cost is a donation. EVERYONE IS WELCOME.


Cattlemen’s News


The Franklin County Cattlemen’s Association will have its monthly meeting Nov. 14 at 6:30 at the fairgrounds. Sponsor will be the Bank of the Ozarks. We appreciate the local businesses that support us. The meal will consist of brisket, potato salad, beans and bread. Members will bring potluck. Also bring items for the scholarship table. Charleston Ministerial Alliance


Community Thanksgiving Service will be Sunday, November 21, 2016 at First Methodist, at 6:00 P.M., the speaker will be Rev. Andrew Kjorlaug. Charleston Ministerial Alliance will be preparing Thanksgiving Food Boxes again this year on Monday, November 21st, 2016. If you would like to help prepare the boxes please be at Freewill Baptist Church, 1004 2nd street at 8:00A.M.. These boxes will be distributed to families who have previously signed up.


Mansfield’s Annual Christmas Parade


The City of Mansfield’s Annual Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 3rd at 2:00 PM. This year’s theme will be ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’. Line up will begin at 12:30 PM at the Mansfield Elementary School. Free beans and cornbread start at 11:00 AM at the gazebo. Vendors are welcome! Free Turkey and Ham drawing and of course Santa will be there and handing out candy sacks to all of the kiddos immediately following the parade.
