J.B. & Margie Robertson Celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary J.B. and Margie (Summerhill) Robertson began celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a trip to Washington, D.C. and taking the train to New York City accompanied with and provided by their daughter, Marnette (Robertson) Dhooghe and their two granddaughters Gabriella and Grace Dhooghe. They all enjoyed a private tour of the United States Capitol by their State Senator as well as visiting many favorite places throughout Washington, D.C. The New York City stay included a hotel in Times Square and walking to Broadway Shows, Rockefeller Center, Top of the Rock, Radio City Hall and other places throughout the Times Square area. One of the favorite spots was taking the ferry to the Statue of Liberty which gives one such a sense of patriotism. The Robertsons were married on June 10, 1967 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas at the First Free Will Baptist Church with a reception in the fellowship hall. Parents of the Bride were Robert and Gladys (Nolen) Summerhill and Parents of the Groom were Tony and Helen (Bumpers) Robertson. The couple attended the same church most of their life and started dating while both were teaching one summer in Bible School. Both were 1963 graduates from Northside High School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. After being married, the couple lived in Ft. Smith, AR; Kennett, MO where Marnette was born; Mena, AR; Conway, AR and Midlothian, TX. Margie has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and a Master of Science Degree in School Counseling. Margie taught 28 years in public schools: Head Start Programs, Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade and was a School Counselor in Elementary/Middle Schools at Greenbrier, Arkansas. After retirement, Margie worked at Conway Counseling Associates. J.B. has an Associate of Arts Degree in Education, a Bachelor of Music Education Degree with emphasis in Voice, Piano and Organ and a Master of Science Degree in Psychology and Counselor Education with certifications: Music for grades K-12th, Secondary/Elementary Guidance, School Psychology Specialists, Gifted and Talented, Educational Examiner, AIDS Health Education Leadership Consultant, and National Service Learning Consultant. J.B. taught in Kennett, Missouri Public Schools; was a school counselor and taught in Mena, Arkansas Public Schools; was Assistant Registrar and taught Psychology Courses at University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas; School Counselor in Little Rock, Arkansas Public Schools; and was the School Counselor Advisor for all of Arkansas while at the Arkansas Department of Education. These days they enjoy being involved at their Granddaughters Elementary School Events in Midlothian, Texas. They love watching Gabby and Grace sing, play the piano, play the violin, perform in their dance recitals in tap/jazz/ballet, and participate in plays at school and in the community. Gabby and Grace are very active with their mother, Marnette at First Baptist Church in Midlothian, Texas where Marnette teaches children. Marnette Dhooghe works as a Health System Specialist with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Marnette grew up in Conway, Arkansas, graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and earned a Masters of Science Degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. The couple enjoys the arts and have season passes to the Dallas Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Dallas Arboretum, Texas Ballet Theater Company, Dallas Zoo, Broadway Musicals, and attend other events in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as well as local events in Ellis County. Marnette, Gabby and Grace attend many of these events with them. The Robertsons will be celebrating with family, cousins, and friends at an Annual Family Reunion in Ft. Smith, Arkansas at Creekmore Park on May 27, 2017 with Potluck at 11 a.m. or come watch them cut their Cake around 12:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring a card of congratulations to share with J.B. & Margie Robertson as they continue celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
