Dear Editor,

So now we’re to vote on a new 1 1/2% to 2% County Tax to build a new jail. I understand from the news media that we usually pay about 10% of such costs and Uncle Sam takes care of the rest of it, like our stop light in Charleston. What’s the county using the money they already had for?

And why should us honest people pay for criminal’s crimes? Why not put a special tax on criminals on probation, parole, or suspended sentences?
