On Nov. 4, Olde Crows General Store and the United States Daughters of 1812 (U.S.D. 1812) held a recognition luncheon to honor veterans who served during the Vietnam Era, regardless of place of service. The Vietnam Era is defined by the Department of Defense as Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.
A Vietnam veteran lapel pin was given to each of the 18 veterans in attendance and five Blue Star Vietnam spouse pins were given to wives in attendance. A special 50th Vietnam commemoration cake was served to all.
U.S.D. 1812 is a commemorative partner, and a partner’s role is to assist a grateful nation in thanking and honoring Vietnam Veterans and their families. Commemorative partners are encouraged to participate in the Commemoration of the Vietnam War by planning and conducting events or activities that will recognize the service, valor and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans and their families.
