Marcus Collins, 29, a suspect in a July 26 double homicide in Fort Smith, is set to be arraigned Wednesday at the Sebastian County Courthouse.
According to the Sebastian County clerk, Collins faces counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping and theft by receiving. An announcement from the Sebastian County Prosecutor’s Office is expected Monday on Collins’ official charges.
The U.S. Marshals Service, along with members of the Memphis Police Department, captured Collins on Monday.
On July 26, at 3:55 a.m., officers of the Fort Smith Police Department were called to the apartment complex at 4118 N. 50th St. in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they entered the apartment and found Brionna S. Belcher, 26, and Jonathan Harris, 43, on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Neirod Medlock, 19, was also arrested in association with the homicides. Investigators believe the slayings were the result of a robbery that escalated.
