Dr. Dairel L. O’Bar, 70 of Wichita, Kansas, a Minister, went to be with his Lord on November 28, 2016.

He is survived By his wife, Kay O’Bar; One son, Lance O’bar and wife, Jennifer; One daughter, Lana O’bar Hizey; Five grandchildren that were the light of his world, Kylie, Mack, Will, Mackenzie, and Alexandra all of Wichita; One sister, Sharon Roberts and husband Danny, Brother-in-law Richard Fox of Charleston, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack Dairel and Veda Rae Looney O’Bar and one sister Arrona Fox, all of Charleston, Arkansas.

Dairel was born on September 18, 1946 in Paris, Arkansas. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1964. He loved to return on Alumni Weekend and attend his class reunions. After high school graduation he atteneded Arkansas Tech on a full athletic scholarship where he started football for the Arkansas Tech Wonderboys all four years.

Dairel Married Kay Ledbetter of Wichita, Kansas on May 8, 1971. He was employed at Friends University in Wichita. He and Kay also served as House Parents to a girl’s dorm on the campus. They soon bought D & s Thrifty Auto Title Service that they have owned for 37 years. Dairel graduated from East Texas State with a Master’s Degree and recieved his Doctorate from Kansas University. He served as Youth Pastor of Westside Free Will Baptist Church for over 15 years before accepting a position as Associate Pastor at the Central Christian Church. After retirement, Dairel planted the Church of the Hertland before health issues with his heart became too much and he had to resign as pastor and took an advisory role. All three churches are in Wichita.
