Larry Wayne Piles, 63, of Fort Smith, formerly of Waldron went to be with his Lord and savior Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. He was a long time member of the Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Waldron High School and the University of Arkansas with a degree in sociology. He also worked for the Arkansas State Health Department until his retirement.

Larry was born at the Mena Hospital to Collette Bates Piles and Olen DeWayne "Pete" Piles in 1953. He was very gifted in music. He was a pianist and organist for many churches in Fort Smith and Waldron. He was also a caregiver for Lucille Rochele and Glen and Dessie Pyles.

He is survived by his mother, Collette (Bates) Piles of Greenwood; one sister, Karen Piles Gallimore and husband Mike of Greenwood; two aunts, Vera Bates Hughes and husband Aldon Hughes, Lottie Scott and the late Harold Wayne Scott of Waldron; one uncle, Jimmy "Jetto" Piles of Waldron.

He was preceded in death by his father, DeWayne "Pete" Piles; his grandparents, Olen and Fern Piles, Delma and Chevis Bates; two uncles, Harvey Bates and Rodney Piles.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home in Waldron.
