James Ladelle Reed, 65, of Lavaca, Arkansas, died Saturday, July 28, 2018, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born August 26, 1952, in Helena, Arkansas, to the late Deward L. Reed and Alma Irene (Snyder) Reed. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Scott Allen Reed and a sister, Mary Virginia Reed.


Jim worked 26 years as an Arkansas State Trooper, and a retired senior corporal for the Arkansas State Police Department. He was a member of Arkansas State Police Association and he was of the Baptist faith.


Funeral service was at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 2nd, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. Burial, with Arkansas State Police Honors, was at McKendree Cemetery, located north of Subiaco, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.


He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda (Watts) Reed; a daughter, Sarah Reed; a son, Steve Ward; four sisters, Irene Kelley, Sue Polk, Grace Reed, and Linda Shoop; two brothers, George Reed and Robert Reed; three granddaughters.


Pallbearers were Tom Kaufenberg, Mark Rowlett, James Reed, Jeffery Reed, Daniel Fulmer, and Alex Sylvester.


Honorary pallbearers were the Arkansas State Police Honor Guard Team.
