Patricia Mae (Hathaway) King was born in Champaign, IL on September 29, 1932 to the late Leonard Hathaway and Betty Fisher Hathaway. She passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.


Pat attended Charleston Schools and The College of the Ozarks, now the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR. She graduated in 1981, time out for marriage, with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. While in college, she met and married David King of Clarksville, Arkansas. They were married in Charleston on December 21, 1952 and were married for almost 66 happy years.


Pat was an elementary school teacher in the Fort Smith Public School System retiring in 1993.


Music was an important part of her life. She taught piano and voice and sang in the Fort Smith Coterie, Fort Smith Chorale and the Central Presbyterian Church Choir.


Funeral service was at 2:00 PM Monday at Central Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith, burial followed at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville, Arkansas at 4:00 PM under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.


Her husband David, her children Laura Mae King and Laura’s daughter Grace Hathaway King, Bruce David King and wife Audrey and their daughters Amanda Atwell and her husband Anthony, Taylor King and Anna Adams King and great grandson Mason Atwell survive her.


Visitation was Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
