Nona Bess Gibbs, 84, of Greenwood passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, in Fort Smith. She was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Paris to Herbert Truman and Ella Mae (Jones) Featherston and graduated from Fort Smith High School. She attended Evangel Temple, where she taught the toddler Sunday school class for 25 years and was the widow of Jerry Dean Gibbs Sr. She and her husband owned and operated Gibbs Dairy Farm in Rye Hill.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rye Hill Baptist Church with burial at Old Jenny Lind Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood.
She is survived by one son, Jerry Dean Gibbs Jr. and wife Karen of Greenwood; one daughter, Melissa Gibbs Garner and husband Stan of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Rachel Gibbs Zollicoffer, Barry Gibbs, Brent Gibbs, Nathan Garner and Heather Garner Wolfe; and eight great-grandchildren, Madison and Jase Zollicoffer, Michael and Lincoln Gibbs, Adeline, Dax and Mary Grace Garner and Lillian Wolfe.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Alfred, Orville, Harley, Herbert, Ruby, Pauline, Helen, Lila and Sue.
Pallbearers will be Brent and Barry Gibbs, Nathan Garner, Keith Zollicoffer, Matthew Wolfe and Ronnie Mitchael.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.
