The Charleston Lady Tiger volleyball team stayed close against Hackett, but fell in four sets in their conference opener.

In the first set Charleston, in their second season of volleyball, trailed by only 1 at 14-15, before Hackett scored 4 straight to extend their lead. The Lady Tigers closed the gap again at 18-19, but back to back great plays by Hackett, just getting the ball on the line, and the Lady Hornets closed out the set 25-18.

The Lady Tigers led early in the second set, before falling behind the Lady Hornets. Charleston closed the gap and trialed by only 2 at 14 16, but Hackett scored 9 of the last 11 points to take the set 25-16.

The third set was all Lady Tigers as Charleston jumped out to an 6-1 lead and never trailed. Charleston led by 6 at 17-11, but Hackett scored 7 of the next 9 points to cut Charleston’s lead to

1 at 19-18. The Lady Tigers maintained the lead to pull out the 25-21 victory.

Charleston’s used that momentum to jump out to a 5-0 lead in the fourth set, but Hackett rallied to regain the lead at 7-6. Hackett pushed their lead to four at 13-9, but the Lady Tigers put together a string of solid plays and reeled off 7 straight to take a 16-13 lead. Charleston maintained their lead and led 24-23 with a chance to close out the set, but a good play by the Lady Hornets tied the score at 24. Hackett scored the last two to take the set and match.

The Junior Lady Tigers stayed close with the Junior Lady Hornets, before falling 25-23 and 25-18.

The seventh grade Lady Tigers defeated the seventh grade Lady Hornets 36-18 in a 20 minute timed match.

The Lady Tigers will be at home on Thursday, September 8 to take on Waldron. They will travel to Paris on Tuesday, September 13 and Mulberry on Thursday, September 15. Game time is at 4pm.
