"Be anxious for nothing at all but in all things, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." — Philippians 4:6-7

The peace that passes understanding is the peace of hope surrendered, not of hope fulfilled. Our struggle and frustration is most usually a result of our trying to fulfill our hopes and having circumstances make us fail, or of begging God for a hope and watching it slip away. Our struggle is ended and peace fills our soul when we come to the point, as Jesus did, of "nevertheless not my will but thy will be done."

There are times when our peace will come at the point of praying "take away my desire for this."

The bottom line of peace within our soul is trusting God; trusting that his love would only deny or change a hope for our greater good. "Be anxious for nothing" is God's love saying "Trust me."

How wondrous our peace when we do!
