Booths Still Available for 34th Annual Altus Grape Festival
The Altus Grape Festival is sponsored each year by the area’s local wineries – Chateau aux Arc, Mount Bethel, Post Familie, and Wiederkehr – by area grape growers, businesses, civic organizations and residents. This year marks the 34th year of the festival that truly celebrates the grape, and attendees can expect the same fun and quality entertainment and activities that make this successful event the largest in the area, with people from across the U.S. and even international visitors attending.
Booth spaces are still available for this two-day event that starts Friday, July 28, at 5:00 p.m. and continues all day Saturday, July 29, from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Festivities include a Friday night street dance until 11 p.m., a variety of live music, grape-related games for children and adults, the popular Grape Stomp Competitions, quality juried arts and crafts, wine and juice tasting by all local wineries, and MORE! You won’t want to miss the MEDIA Grape Stomps at 6:15 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday when area TV, newspaper and radio personalities compete!
Amateur winemakers are invited to bring the best of their homemade wine to the Amateur Winemaking Competition at this celebration of the grape with a $100 CASH prize for the best GRAPE wine! Wines to be judged are asked to be brought to The Gathering Place, 1606 Franklin Street, on the east side of the City Park, by 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, with results from the judging to be presented to the winners at 3 p.m. at the band stage in the center of the park.
