Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Children’s Emergency Shelter is gearing up for back to school. From school supplies to our back-to-school trip, there are several ways to support the CES and its children in crisis!

In addition to serving the emergency needs of our children in crisis, we also focus on making sure each child returns to school with confidence by providing new clothes, shoes and appropriate school supplies.

Here are the different ways to help support our children in crisis as they start the new school year!

1. ROAD TRIP: The back-to-school trip will cost about $3,000, so we are looking for an organization to help create first and happy memories for our kiddos – any financial support helps! Individuals can support our back-to-school trip here:

2. NEEDS LIST: Please see the attached photo for our school supplies needs list. Donations can be dropped off anytime at 3015 South 14th Street, Fort Smith, AR 72901. Please be mindful that majority of our children are teenagers!

3. TAX FREE WEEKEND: Tax free weekend is August 3-5, so regardless of what you’re buying, individuals can shop online at and Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the CES (everything helps)!

Shop to beat the crowds:

The Fort Smith Children’s Emergency Shelter serves area children age 6 to 17 who have been removed from their home by the Department of Human Services due to neglect and/or abuse. The CES provides shelter and care, in a safe and structured home-like environment and allows our kids in crisis the opportunity to “just be kids.”
