Dylan Dempsey, 26, of Fort Smith, was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Judge P.K. Holmes III presided over Dempsey's hearing in the U.S. District Court in Fort Smith. Duane "DAK" Kees, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, stated in a news release Dempsey is the last defendant to be sentenced from a 16-count indictment against eight people who operated a large-scale drug trafficking conspiracy in the Fort Smith area. This drug trafficking operation was responsible for the distribution of multiple kilograms of methamphetamine from 2015-18, Kees noted.

Dempsey was indicted by a federal grand jury in February 2018 and entered a guilty plea in February 2019.
