This past Saturday a family from the Mountainburg area was swimming on the Mulberry River at an area called Boulder Slide (Rock Slide, Landslide) when a 40 year old male became injured. According to the his son, the man jumped from a large rock into shallow water. He received a head injury. Family and friends moved him to a large rock in the stream where they attended to him while emergency responders were summoned.
Friends of the injured person met responders on Hwy 215 near Wilson Lane to lead them back into the accident scene. Two Franklin County medics were transported to the patient by an the reporting party’s off road vehicle. After the patient was packaged for transport, responders using the county’s patient bed equipped Ranger moved him to an awaiting ambulance near Fern. He was flown by medical helicopter to a regional trauma center.
Responding to the scene were personnel from Franklin County EMS, OEM SAR, Mulberry Fire Department, and, the Pleasant View Fire Department. Local citizens helped the mission by providing ORV transportation and trail guidance.
