The AFA Basic Auto Extrication Class was held this past Saturday. Eleven responders completed the course which was taught by Watalula Fire Chief Frank Theising. This class helps prepare respondes to gain access to and remove entrapped persons from wreckage using specialty tools and techniques. Special thanks to Ken’s Towing for providing some cars to work on.
Ozark Fire Department is making progress on their extensive aerial ladder training program. Chief Trotter wants to ensure everyone is up to date especially with the addition of two new 4-story buildings in Ozark.
Once again, the outstanding Mutual Aid relationship we have with the Mulberry Fire Department has provided our area with excellent emergency response. This past Saturday, together we preformed a rescue and evacuation of an injured person on the Mulberry River. We also received the invaluable assistance of citizens who lived in that area. Special thanks to Jason Rider and Jason Wilson for their help with guiding and transporting responders to an accident site.
NIMS Compliance—Each county and city responding agency—Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, OEM— has to file an annual compliance report to the federal government. I will file the report. All I need from you is your roster reflecting who has completed the mandated ICS classes. This actually a pretty easy process. Call me if you have questions. We need to have the info gathered in my office by Wed Jul 25.
