Booth spaces are filling up fast for the Altus Grape Festival coming up July 26 and 27 in downtown Altus. The Fest is sponsored each year by area grape growers, businesses, civic organizations, and local wineries – Chateau aux Arc, Mount Bethel, Post Familie, and Wiederkehr. This 30th year truly celebrates the grape, and attendees can expect the same fun and quality entertainment that make this successful event the largest in the area, with U.S. and international visitors attending.

This two-day event starts Friday, July 26, from 5:00-11:00 p.m. and continues all day Saturday, July 27. Festivities include a Friday night street dance, a variety of live music, Saturday morning breakfast, grape-related games for all ages (the most popular being the grape stomp competitions), quality juried arts and crafts, and wine and juice tasting by local wineries. The Bacchus and Lady Bacchus Look-alike Contests return for Friday evening with cash prizes! Enter early for the grape pie-eating contest, the waiter/waitress tray races, and the grape stomps, as these events fill up fast! There are games and play areas for the children making this an all-ages festival.

Amateur winemakers are invited to bring the best of their homemade wine to the Amateur Winemaking Competition by 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, to The Gathering Place, 1606 Franklin Street (east side of the park), with judging results to be presented at 3 p.m. on the main stage.
