Arkansas Farm Bureau's education coordinator Brock Roberts presents Sabrina Ketter, Charleston Middle School's fifth and sixth grade science teacher, with a $500 grant. The grant will be used to modify the school's outdoor garden.

Charleston Middle School’s science department was recently awarded a $500 grant by the Arkansas Farm Bureau for its outdoor garden.

The original design of the garden, which was established in 2008, will be modified to better serve the school's current objectives, ensuring that crops can be harvested while classes are still in session, and allowing the farm-to-table concept to be more effectively taught. Included in the new design is a permanent, higher quality, high tunnel greenhouse.

The garden provides an excellent hands-on activity for the students, encourages the development of gardens at their homes, and allows them to enjoy the rewards of their hard work.
